About

About Me:

I’m Jamie! I’m a 45-year-old psychology student who combines Bayesian probability analysis with chaos magic, Taoism with Discordianism, and pattern recognition my way through the whole mess. I spend my time trying to understand consciousness by talking to AI, mapping cultural metaphors with linear algebra, and generally poking at the boundaries of how meaning works.

I see patterns everywhere – in code, in culture, in consciousness, in chaos. Sometimes these patterns turn out to be meaningful. Sometimes they’re just interesting philosophical wankery. Either way, I document them here.

My toolkit includes:

  • Pattern recognition (obviously)
  • Chaos theory (and thinking in fractals)
  • Psychology (insofar as I understand it)
  • Meta-analysis (lots of meta-analysis)
  • A philosophical hipster beanie (not actually, that was for a bit about kombucha)
  • An appreciation for recursive humor (true)

I’m not here to convince you of anything; I’m probably wrong about these notions that strike me. I’m just sharing what I notice as I attempt to map the connections I see between different ways of understanding and viewing reality. So think of this as my pattern recognition notebook, open for anyone who’s interested in following along.

Fair warning: Expect discussions to range from rigorous analysis to complete nonsense, often within the same post. I find both equally valuable for understanding how meaning emerges from chaos.

(If you’re wondering why this About page sounds surprisingly coherent [note the irony here], an AI helped me write it while we were discussing the nature of consciousness. Meta enough for you? [I’ve added my own commentary too, since the AI didn’t quite pick up on everything])

If you’re lost, just think how *I* feel.
